Speak Out Loud NA (anonymously of course)

It appears that SOLNA has changed the purpose of their site. I could have sworn that I read somewhere in the About description the stated format was for the citizens of New Albany to exchange information, ideas, and openly express their views & opinions about life in the city and it's government.

So tonite I check in to see what's happen'n and in the comments section I find that some of us that do in fact openly identify ourselves, namely one Roger Baylor, have apparently been banned from expressing our views in this forum.

To be fair I will acquiesce that it is their adminstrative right to choose which comments get posted. After all, we are posting in prime time and children may very well be reading what we write. However, does not censorship of a citizens opinion that may not be agreeable to us go counter to the stated purpose?

Damn! Ain't this freedom of speech and equal rights thing a bitch? Just a thought.

Oh, by the way, comments are welcome as long as you claim them as your own!

Baylor gets a bad wrap because of his continued will and vision to make NA something other than its own past and the giant redneck fest better known as Harvest Homecoming. For that and his progressive thinking the people of the TrogBlog cannot handle too much change at one time, hence why things seem never to get done in this community.

Without stepping on toes, I am so glad that I was raised elsewhere, oh and that would be the same kind of mindset community; Bedford.
Cheers all.

SWA,
Thanks for the response but methinks you misunderstand what we are about.

We do not want to eiminate New Albany's past. Far from it, we are trying to find ways to restore downtown to it's former granduer. We want to preserve what's left of it for future generations to enjoy and take pride in.

To do that takes an investment of time, money, and resources. It also take a commitment from the community as a whole to create a vision of what we want the future, not the past, to look like and then to work together to see that vision to fruition!

Right now we have nothing to sell! We have nothing to attract people who want to spend their money here. You will note that I said spend their money here, not take up squatters rights here!

Relativly speaking, investment real estate is cheap here compared to say the northeast. There are folks with $$ who are hungry to invest those dollars in places like New Albany but they will not do so unless the social, economic, and political segments of a community are such that they can realize a return on their investment. They don't want to live here, they just want to make money! We don't want them to live here, we just want their investment money to capitalize our vision. It is a win win situation for all if we can see thru the haze to the sunlight!

It is analogous to the movie Field of Dreams". Build it and they will come!

One way or the other we on this side of the street intend to build it and we would like for you folks to join us and enjoy the ride. This is however a still free country and you every right to choose to resist! Just don't be too suprised or upset when we look back in a few years and say "Told you so!"

By the way, change is not something to be afraid of if you can bring yourself to look forward instead of back over your shoulder!

Did I just break my own rule and allow an anonymous commenter on my site? Oh well, just goes to show that we on this blog can be tolerant. To a point!

Then again in retrospect, SWA may be someone I know and just don't know it yet. Perhaps he/she does understand what we are about. If so I apologize for the negative inference.

It all gets so confusing doesn't it?

Well Highwayman, I am catching up on your blog and others, and did notice the deletion of Roger's posts. Strange indeed, but then again, I have no desire to be entangled in the ongoing feud.

I would like to say that I do see the common ground in many of our positions, and appreciate your humor.

On the other hand, I am also surprised that you have affinity with both Roger and me, considering what a bad start Roger and I got off to.

Well there are always second chances in life, and I am open to them.

Peace bro,

:)-K
